Ducane Affinity 3100 Gas Grill

The Ducane Affinity is made by a subsidary of one of the most reliable names in grills, Weber. This grill is a basic three burner type barbeque which costs around the $350 mark, and although it is possible to get a grill for less money, even one which has more features, it won’t have this brand name behind it. Weber are noted for making solid, well designed grills and for providing ongoing customer support, something you won’t get for many other grills, especially at this price.

The Ducane Affinity 3100 grill has three 12,000 stainless steel tubular burners. The grill space is a bit on the small side with 418 square inches of space for grilling and an overall cooking area of 550 square inches. The main burners on the grill have 36,000 BTU output and battery powered flame igniters. The grill’s thermometer is mounted on the hood and the model offers cooking grates of porcelain enamelled steel. The propane tank and cover are not included in the $350 selling price – so it’s worth thinking about the additional cost this will incur.

This grill, like all Weber and Ducane grills is solidly constructed and should give good service for some time to come. Although some of the components of this grill are not up to Weber’s general standard, the main parts still have that solid design, making this grill a fair investment for the asking price – it’s also likely to last you a lot longer than some other, fancier grills in the price range. Aside from the stable construction of the grill overall, Weber are renowned for the 24/7 support that they offer all their customers, something that nowadays is a rarity.

Some of the parts are made from materials that need careful handling if you want them to last any amount of time. Unlike many of their grills, Weber have used a low standard stainless steel for many of the body parts, which means that using the grill requires greater care. This is a very basic grill; it does what it says on the tin but if you want a grill with gadgets and features then the Ducane Affinity 3100 is not for you. Distribution of this grill is limited and so it may be difficult to get hold of in your area. For a similar offering, but with a better standard of materials throughout its build, it is worth looking at the Weber Spirit E-210.

When all is said and done, if you are looking to buy a basic grill on a limited budget then you could do a lot worse than the Ducane. If things go wrong, then this is a Weber grill and you will get good customer service and support, which makes it a fair deal for the price.
