Weber Gas Grills

In 1952, having found himself frustrated at the unreliable way of cooking on his open brazier grill, George Stephen Sr. set about building a better, more reliable grill, which allowed its users to cook in all kinds of weather. After some experimentation, the welder, who worked at and partially owned Weber Brothers Metal Works, cut a metal buoy in half, built in a grill and created the classic kettle grill.

Despite the fact that the ‘Weber Kettle Grill’ cost almost 7 times more than the average brazier grill on the market at that time, it quickly earned a phenonemal reputation and was soon in huge demand. Stephen bought out the Weber factory and renamed it Weber – Stephen Products Co. and focused its work around the Kettle Grill business. As the years passed, the business grew and by the 1960’s, the ‘Weber’ became a nation’s favourite, sold across the country and the term often being used instead of ‘grill’.

Today, when in excess of 85 million US homes own a grill and although it has grown into a wider market, offering not just charcoal but smoke and gas products, Weber remains a brand that inspires. Available for both commercial and household use, the name ‘Weber’ has proven itself to be a leader, not only in innovation, offering the latest in grilling technology but also in reliability. With a range to offer first time grillers right through to those who want the premium product, the unbelievable thing about weber is that no matter the cost of the grill, you get unbelievable quality.

The big debate when it comes to backyard grilling is do you use propane gas or a natural gas grill? Natural gas is easier to use, linking it up your house supply and it has the added benefit of never running out! It also means you never had the task of refueling the tank as necessary with propane powered grills. When it comes to cooking power, propane has the edge but this has to be weighed up against the cost, with natural gas being cheaper and more economical in the long run. Another plus for the natural gas grill is that the smoke released is also cleaner and more environmentally friendly than its counterpart.

In 1985, the company introduced “The Genesis Grills” and changed the way Americans cooked forever. The new line allowed consumers to have precise heat control and almost flare free grilling – ultimately it allowed its customers to cook virtually anything on a grill. This natural gas grill is still about today.

Likewise, in 2002, Weber made waves with the introduction of its luxury “Summit Grills”, allowing outdoor chefs to offer a more premium level of cuisine to their clientel. With a top quality specification, the Summit has 4 to 6 stainless steel burners, tool holders and flavorizer bars. It also features additional cooking shelves, easy to clean surfaces and a “tuck away” chicken rotisserie spit add on.

The Weber Q grill came along in 2003, changing the face of portable gas grills, offering open flame grillings unstead of the ‘run of the mill’ griddle associated with portable grills. Acting as a hybrid, the Q not only works wonders as a portable, take to the beach type of grill, but is durable enough to use as your everyday grill too. There Q became so popular that today, there are several Q models on the market.

Deciding on which Weber Grill to buy is a difficult task for anybody because they are all rated so highly but you can be sure of one thing, a Weber grill is a premium grill that will not let you down.
